Woman to Woman Guitar is a unique guitar instructional video, designed for the guitar player who wants to acquire information that will open the doors to indefinite growth and knowledge of the guitar, regardless of style. The DVD covers accompaniment styles and rhythm playing, lead playing, ear training, right hand technique (fingerpicking and flatpicking), and left hand technique. I divided this instructional video/dvd into sections, which I intend for you to study separately and expand upon indefinitely. Within these sections, I provide tips and exercises to enable even a novice guitar player to quickly learn the guitar fretboard and to develop creativity as well as technique.

Most importantly, I tell you not only what to learn, but how to learn it. I have spent over thirty years developing methods to make learning the guitar straightforward and efficient, and I share these methods with you in Woman to Woman Guitar. I devoted an entire section of the instructional video to note reading and memorization skills, including the use of visualization and the internal ear.

In addition, I've added tips throughout on such topics as negotiating the guitar fretboard with small hands, avoiding injury and dealing with performance anxiety.

Guitar Instruction for Girls and Women

Although Woman to Woman Guitar is appropriate for both men and women, it is the first guitar instruction video/dvd designed to meet the physiological, psychological and practical needs of the female guitar player. As a female guitar player, I have encountered challenges ranging from the physical (injuries from playing guitars that were too large for me; carrying heavy instruments and equipment) to the psychological (working in a male-dominated field). I also experienced a void from the lack of a female role model. The first time I saw another woman playing jazz guitar, I was mesmerized! Although more women are playing guitar than ever before, we still need models, and we need to be able to talk about how we learn, how we work with other musicians and how we handle professional situations.

Proper posture and body use while playing is crucial to the comfort and longevity of any guitarist, whether male or female.
