Guitar workshops and guitar workshop/retreats are a great way to take a rapid leap in your guitar playing. I conduct workshops of varying lengths for guitar players of all ages and all levels of experience.  In addition to the 1/2 day and one-day workshops for men, women, teens, and kids, I offer twice yearly weekend guitar workshop/retreats for women.

I love doing guitar workshops and can even be convinced to leave my beautiful country home for a guitar workshop or workshop/retreat  in your town!

Guitar Workshops are generally from two to six hours in length and  most are limited to ten participants. Here are some of the things you can expect from a workshop:

• Gain a deeper understanding of the guitar fretboard
• Demystify terms, symbols and concepts of music theory as relate to guitar playing 
• Acquire tips on accompaniment and rhythm playing
• Learn the secret to soloing over changing harmonies
• Gain personal assistance in proper body use and both left hand and right hand technique
• Establish a plan to facilitate continued musical growth and expansion

Cost varies, depending on the location, material covered, and number of participants, but will range from $35.00 - $125.00. Advance registration is required. Materials and lunch are provided. Guitar Workshop/Retreats for Women provide female guitarists a safe and nurturing emotional environment and an inspiring and serene physical environment in which to expand their playing skills and knowledge of the instrument. Workshop/retreats for women are typically three or four days long and offer the benefits of guitar workshops (described above), plus:

• Study and practice proper body use in order to allow clear energy channels for expression, to reduce risk of injury and to eliminate tension and pain in the body while playing guitar.
• Learn to quiet the mind as a means to artistic expression and efficient, stress-free learning
• Go more deeply into the fundamentals of music and create a program for continued growth in the following areas:
         Understanding, constructing and using intervals, scales and chords
         Reading and writing musical notation
         Rhythm playing
         Lead playing and improvisation
• Learn one or more songs to perform (solo or group) and participate in nightly jam sessions 
• Expand listening skills (ear training) and learn to notate or verbally describe aural relationships 
• Experience the balance between solitude and community, silence and sound, which is integral to the vitality of the artist and the emotional and spiritual health of the individual.

Swim, hike, meditate, take yoga classes, get a massage, eat healthy, delicious food and play guitar!

The cost  for a weekend retreat is $325.00. (Contact me for a quote on a three or four-night retreat). Cost includes all group instruction (including guitar, yoga and meditation), private guitar lessons, materials, food and accommodations. Massage is available for an extra fee. A deposit is required to register.

Participants may be any level guitar player, but should have some knowledge of the guitar and be able to play first position chords. In order to ensure maximum productivity and comfort, workshop/retreat registrants will receive a questionnaire regarding playing level and goals, as well as dietary preferences. 

Guitar Workshop/Retreats are held in the Texas Hill Country. They are limited to ten participants, to allow for individual attention and instruction. For more information or to register, please contact us.

Rhythm Workshops are generally two hours long and are for players of any level. Drum, chant, read and write music, move, make noise and have fun! You'll be amazed at how your sense of rhythm and knowledge of the musical language can expand in two hours! 

Rhythm workshops are a perfect way to jumpstart creativity in the workplace. I will bring beautiful drums and various other percussive instruments to your place of business or a meeting place of your choice. I  tailor each workshop to the needs of the participants (musical experience not required!), who will surely come away inspired, energized, and excited!
